Hi! I’m Elle K. Sherman, and I’m the janitor’s daughter. My father started working in New York public schools when he was 18 years old, just four years after he won a writing contest through that Staten Island Gazette, in Staten Island, NY, that sent him on a European Tour to Austria, ___. I have the newpaper article framed on my desk and pray to my late father, Chris Loizos, daily that both my talents and his flow through me in all my works.
As a Greek-Italian-American Scorpio from New Jersey, I pack a lot of sizzle, spice, and sexually-sweet nice. My childhood consisted of musical theater, dance, and softball, plus a lot of reading. My siblings call me “HarryPotterFan#1” and wanted that to be my AIM screenname for years. They still do. Becoming my travel softball team’s captain and then my high school class president were just titles back then but looking back, I think I let my passion and intensity burn bright, showcasing that when I do things, I go HARD. I am not afraid of failure.
In 2008, I secured a full scholarship to Rutgers University as a first-generation college student and studied Communication, Theater, and Screenwriting. I also won a writing scholarship in my senior year for $2,500. It was huge for me! It paid some of my rent and bills that I was 100% responsible for. Upon graduation, I turned to sales. I needed to make money as I grew up with none, so I pushed my dreams to the side and became one of 1,200 applicants to get hired at Paycom, which still to this day is one of the country’s top sales forces. Since then, I became a commerical real estate broker and expanded retail concepts throughout the country, including Fortune 500 companies Amazon and Levi Strauss (please see the rest of my CRE bio HERE). I took a year hiatus from work and studied film production in UCLA’s Producer’s Program and worked on studio films such as Netflix/Adam McKay’s Don’t Look Up, Liongate/Suzanne Fogel’s The Spy Who Dumped Me, MGM/Steven Caple Jr.’s Creed 2. It was during my last job at world-renowned CBRE - “the green machine”- where one of my teammates turned to me after reading my wedding website and told me with all sincerity that I am a writer and I should not stop writing.
But I did. I stopped.
It wasn’t until a health scare in early 2025 that I pulled out old character sheets and an outline that I wrote for my debut fantasy novel that I got going. And here I am. We’re halfway through 2025 and I am planning on querying agents within the next few months.
Thankful for my aurthor friends, beta readers, and strong support system for believing in me when I didn’t. I’m gratfeful for my son who inspires me to be the best version of myself so I can lead the best example for him — pushing for him and any child thorughout the workd to be the tur authentic selves!
I forgot that.
I forgot who I was.
But now, I remember.
Stay tuned for novel news as well as screenplay news coming in 2025!
